How minutes work
Minutes are counted by the server, not by your phone
You only pay for time you actually spend talking with the tutor, measured in 30-second steps.
Renews monthly
Your allowance is credited on your billing date each month. Unused plan minutes do not roll over.
Welcome minutes
New accounts receive 10 bonus voice minutes valid for 30 days, on top of the free plan's 5 minutes a month.
Fair and safe
Sessions are metered on our servers in 30-second steps, so a dropped connection never charges you twice.

Questions about plans and minutes
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan gives you 5 AI voice minutes every month, plus 10 welcome minutes when you create your account. Typing practice stays available even when voice minutes run out.
What counts as a voice minute?
Time while a voice call is open with your tutor, measured by our servers in 30-second steps. Reading corrections or typing does not use voice minutes.
Do unused minutes roll over?
Plan minutes renew each billing month and do not roll over. Welcome minutes are valid for 30 days.
Where do I subscribe?
In the EnglishMate app on Google Play. The website only shows plan information; there is no checkout here.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from Google Play at any time and keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
Can plans or prices change?
Yes. Plans, prices, minutes and features may change at any time. A change applies to new purchases immediately and to existing subscriptions from the next billing period, so it never reduces a period you have already paid for. If your price goes up, Google Play tells you in advance and asks you to accept it.
